When it comes to maintenance and protection of your vehicle, oftentimes people will associate additives for only the winter months. While it is important to use additives in the winter months, it is important to maintain that same protection in the hotter summer months. Since you won’t be using the more winter-appropriate products in the summer like anti-gel, we want to share what products will be of help in the heat during each fill-up.
So what are some of the things you need to be considering when it comes to taking care of your diesel fuel in the summer? There are five different areas to think about. Lubricity, water dispersant, fuel stabilization, rust inhibitors, and cetane boost. By using the correct additives, you can take even the worst quality diesel fuel and turn it into a “premium” diesel fuel.
Lubricity is important for fuel systems as their high-dollar components rely on lubrication to maintain efficient performance. If you’re running fuel with low lubricity, you’re risking a failure on said parts. In fact, in a recent shop visit, a CP4 high pressure fuel pump failed because of this exact issue and cost the owner almost $12,000.
Moving on, good water dispersants and rust inhibitors are just as important. If you get water in your fuel system that condensed water in the fuel will cause rust, icing in cold weather, and increase the growth of microorganisms in warm weather. How does water get in there? On these hot summer days, condensation can build up inside and really create problems. By using a good water dispersant or rust inhibitor, you can prevent this.
As for cetane boost, why not get the most out of your fill-up, right? By adding an additive that will up the cetane to your fuel, you’re setting yourself up for a boost in power and better fuel economy. There are a few products of ours that we recommend and those are our Diesel Extreme and our EDT, also known as Everyday Diesel Treatment.
Our LX4 Lubricity Extreme is the highest level of lubricity concentration available. LX4 is a premium lubricity additive for both diesel fuel and gasoline and is now infused in our EDT product. Nowadays, the fuel that comes out of these pumps aren’t premium. By using this diesel fuel lubricant additive, you can greatly increase fuel’s lubricity and prevent the wear and scarring of key components inside the fuel system, including pumps and injectors. This diesel fuel lubricant is warranty safe and emissions equipment safe.
Our EDT product hits each of these points on the head during every fill up. Once it lubricates the fuel out of the pump, you’re getting all of the mentioned benefits above. One treatment of EDT with each fill up will keep your diesel powering down the road. The stability of fuels will be greatly increased and diesel engines will be kept in a much cleaner, more maintenance-free condition.
EDT is recommended for ALL DIESEL ENGINES because it is completely ashless and has no adverse effects on engine components. This diesel fuel additive complies with the federal low sulfur content requirements for use in diesel motor vehicles and non-road engines, too.
How does it work? The EDT offers better performance because of its cetane improvement. With a better cetane rating, it results in a smoother, less erratic pressure buildup in the combustion chamber during the ignition delay period which occurs between injection and ignition. Controlling this pressure buildup eliminates potential damage to piston rings and rod bearings. Both of which are not easy or expensive to repair.
As for power and fuel economy, EDT allows fuel to burn more evenly and cleanly. When ignition improves, emissions are reduced and noise levels are lowered. Controlling the pressure build-up allows more complete burning of the refractive molecules in the fuel, which steal power and produce deposits and wear. All of these feature fast, free shipping, they will not void your manufacturer’s warranty, and is backed by our 100-percent satisfaction or your money back guarantee. Protect your investment by choosing to use a fuel additive year-round to keep your vehicle running its best.
