DISCUSSION
Repeat oil pan gasket leaks can occur on 24 Valve Diesels if the gasket is applied without the use of Mopar Silicon Rubber Adhesive (RTV) Sealant (PN 04883971). This bulletin provides specific routing of the sealant when replacing the engine oil pan gasket. When replacing an oil pan gasket, apply a 1/8″ bead of RTV to the oil pan side of the gasket, around the back of the engine, extending up to the fourth bolt hole from the rear on each side.
