ISSUE
A “no-start” or “reduced power” condition may occur intermittently on some vehicles. This may be caused by a short in the injector circuits or the IDM module.
ACTION
Follow the diagnostics listed in the Diagnostic Guide and refer to the following Service Procedure.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
- If, after completion of all the steps in the Power Stroke 7.3L (DI Turbo) Diesel Diagnostic Guide, you are unable to pinpoint the cause of the concern, proceed with the following steps.
- Disconnect the IDM Module connector and using a DVOM, measure the resistance between the injector circuits to ground. If it is less than 5 ohms resistance, repair the short in the circuit and retest.
- If the concern still exists, replace the IDM module.
