ISSUE

A no start/hard start and/or long crank time may occur on some vehicles. This may be caused by the glow plug relay.

ACTION

Install a Glow Plug Relay Kit which has been revised to reduce the possibility of no start/hard start and/or long crank time. Refer to the following for details.

The Glow Plug Relay Kit (F7TZ-12B533-CA) consists of the following:

  • One (1) Glow Plug Relay
  • One (1) Adapter Wire Assembly
  • Two (2) Nuts – 10-32
  • Two (2) Nuts – 5/16″-18
  • Two (2) Washers
  • One (1) Glow Plug Relay Cover
  • One (1) Instruction Sheet (I.S. #7152)

Refer to the Instruction Sheet in the kit for installation details.

NOTE: WHEN ORDERING AN ENGINE WIRING HARNESS FOR ANY REASON, MAKE SURE IT INCLUDES THE REVISED RELAY. IF IT DOES NOT, USE THE FOLLOWING SERVICE KIT TO UPDATE THE HARNESS.

In addition to the Instruction Sheet, attach the wire adapter connector to the wiring harness conduit using a tie wrap as shown in Fig 1 . Early kits may not contain the tie wrap. Obtain a 152mm (6″) tie wrap locally.
