EDT+ Winter Defense

Add to diesel fuel before wax starts to form (near freezing temperatures). Use at every fill-up. Use the performance dose for additional cetane boost, fuel lubricity, and a lower pour point. Performance dose is required when temperatures are below 0°F.

I Use Everyday Diesel Treatment, What Should I Use in the Winter?

Start the colder months with a proper engine clean to remove deposits that build up over the warmer months. Use Diesel Extreme for your winter engine clean.

Once Diesel Extreme has done its job, switch your Hot Shot's Secret Everyday Diesel Treatment (EDT) for EDT+ Winter Defense to reap all the benefits from EDT, like a cetane boost and cleaning capabilities, while preventing fuel gelling and improving winter operability.

EDT+ Winter Defense offers all the advantages that diesel vehicles love, like a potent cetane booster and the LX4 Lubricity Extreme additive for better winter fuel economy, performance and protection but with added de-icer and wax modifier chemicals. EDT+ Winter Defense is the perfect winter fuel additive.

How Does EDT+ Winter Defense Work?

EDT+ Winter Defense has all the components of Hot Shot's Secret popular EDT diesel fuel additive and more — a wax modifier and a de-icer.

Hot Shot’s Secret EDT+ Winter Defense uses a special wax modifier that changes the temperature and the method at which the wax crystals are formed. This prevents paraffin wax precipitation during cold weather by minimizing the size of the wax crystals and allowing the fuel to travel through the fuel filter at temperatures 20°F below the cloud point (wax solidification point) of diesel fuel. A military-grade deicer is used to keep moisture from freezing and plugging up fuel filters down to -40 °F below where water alone freezes.

Why Should I Use EDT+ Winter Defense?

EDT effectively purifies injectors, enhances cetane levels, improves cold starts, increases lubricity for better fuel efficiency and power, and reduces the need for regen cycles. With added anti-gelling and icing protection, EDT+ Winter Defense is an all-around diesel winter additive that boosts your engine's performance and prevents fuel line freeze-ups in temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

When Should I Use EDT+ Winter Defense?

Add EDT+ Winter Defense to your fuel when the temperature nears the freezing point before wax forms. You'd want to add this diesel anti-gel every time you fill up.

Add two ounces per 25 gallons above 0 degrees Fahrenheit or four ounces per 25 gallons below 0 degrees Fahrenheit.

What Vehicles Can Use EDT+ Winter Defense?

Utilize EDT+ Winter Defense for all-terrain diesel vehicles for optimum wintertime performance. The following diesel vehicles can use this diesel anti-gel additive:

• Cars
• Vans
• Buses
• Trucks
• Semi-trucks
• Agricultural equipment vehicles
• Heavy equipment vehicles
• Utility vehicles

You can purchase EDT+ Winter Defense in 8-ounce or 16-ounce sizes. For your convenience, we also offer 1-quart, 1-gallon and 5-gallon containers.

What Are the Benefits of a Winter Fuel Additive?

EDT+ Winter Defense offers all the benefits of Hot Shot's Secret's popular EDT, including enhanced performance and power and better fuel efficiency. The product also includes LX4 Lubricity Extreme for the best lubricity on the market. EDT+ Winter Defense offers engine protection during winter as it prevents fuel icing and gelling.

Fuel treated with EDT+ Winter Defense becomes a “PREMIUM” diesel fuel. The cetane improver in EDT+ consists of special nitrates which are pro-oxidants, and which speed up the oxidative process of fuels during combustion, giving more power and improved mileage. EDT+ provides significantly increased ignition efficiency with all diesel fuels. In addition, EDT+ prevents gum and sludge formation. Corrosion is prevented by an inhibitor which produces a protective non-deposit-forming film on metal surfaces in the fuel system and which neutralizes corrosive acids formed during combustion. An important component of EDT+ is a special demulsifier which disperses condensed moisture. Condensed water in fuels is a major cause of rust, icing in cold weather and the growth of microorganisms in warm weather. Operation of diesel engines is noticeably improved when corrosion and growth of bacteria are prevented. EDT+ contains an exclusive polar lubricity additive to prevent wear without altering fuel viscosity.

The Science

EDT+ is extremely effective in middle distillate fuels to improve combustion and ignition efficiency, enhance fuel economy and maintain fuel in a clean, stabilized condition. The sulfur content of this diesel fuel additive does not exceed 15 ppm

The reason for better performance with EDT+ is that cetane improvement in the fuel gives a smoother, less erratic pressure buildup in the combustion chamber during the ignition delay period which occurs between injection and ignition.

Controlling this pressure buildup with EDT+ eliminates potential damage to piston rings and rod bearings

Power and fuel economy are increased as fuel burns more evenly and cleanly. Misfiring is controlled. When ignition improves, emissions are reduced, and noise levels are lowered. Controlling the pressure build-up allows more complete burning of the refractive molecules in the fuel, which steal power and produce deposits and wear.

EDT+ WINTER DEFENSE prevents paraffin wax precipitation during cold weather, by minimizing the size of the wax crystals and allowing the fuel to travel through the fuel filter at temperatures 20°F below the cloud point (wax solidification point) of the diesel fuel.
