The Science Behind Ultra Premium DEF™

A Smarter Approach to DEF Chemistry

Ultra Premium DEF™ was developed around a simple question:
What if DEF could actively help protect the SCR system instead of simply passing through it?
Our patent-pending technology is engineered to influence the conditions that contribute to deposit accumulation throughout the DEF system and emissions components. Rather than waiting for crystals to become a maintenance issue, Ultra Premium DEF™ helps maintain cleaner system operation over time.

Three Ways It Works:
1. Helps Control Crystal Formation
Standard DEF can leave behind deposits as fluid cycles through the DEF and SCR emissions systems. Ultra Premium DEF™ is formulated to help reduce the accumulation of these deposits before they can become a problem.

2. Helps Clean Existing Deposits
The technology is designed to help dissolve and break down existing crystal buildup by wetting the crystal surface to dissolve it back into solution in the DEF fluid. This cleaning action helps restore normal system function and maintain critical component cleanliness.

3. Supports Peak SCR Performance
By helping keep critical components cleaner, Ultra Premium DEF™ supports proper DEF delivery, injector performance, and overall SCR efficiency.

Think of it like this: traditional DEF is similar to fuel
Ultra Premium DEF™ is more like a premium-fuel with advanced detergency. One simply performs its basic function, the other helps maintain the system it operates within. That difference matters because today's emissions systems are more complex, more expensive, and more critical than ever before.

Even small deposits can accumulate throughout the SCR system and cause problems, including:

DEF injector
DEF tank
Sending unit
Heater assembly
DEF pump
DEF lines
Decomposition tube
Mixer assembly

Over time, these deposits can contribute to reduced efficiency, increased maintenance concerns, trouble codes, and costly repairs.

Stop Settling for Basic DEF
Your diesel’s SCR system is too expensive, too important and too advanced for ordinary DEF. Ultra Premium DEF™ is engineered for drivers, fleets, and equipment owners who want more than minimum compliance. It is API-certified, ISO 22241-1 conforming, triple-filtered for purity, and powered by patent-pending technology that helps prevent crystal formation, clean existing buildup, and protect the entire SCR system.

Product details

Unlike standard or “premium” DEF products, Ultra Premium DEF™ doesn’t just slow crystal buildup… it cleans existing deposits which restrict flow, trigger fault codes, and reduce SCR efficiency. The result is improved reliability, fewer interruptions, and long-term SCR system protection. Ultra Premium DEF™ delivers the same performance benefits as Hot Shot’s Secret® Premium DEFender™, with added convenience thanks to the ready-to-use, pre-mixed formula.

The Problem: Regular DEF Stops at the “Standard”

Traditional DEF does one job: supply urea to the SCR system so it can help reduce NOx emissions. According to the American Petroleum Institute (API), Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is a 32.5% solution of technically pure urea in purified water, and it is injected into the exhaust stream where heat and catalyst activity convert NOx into nitrogen and water vapor.

That chemistry is essential, but it does not solve one of the biggest real-world problems diesel owners face: crystal buildup.

As DEF moves through the tank, pump, lines, injector, decomposition tube, mixer, and SCR system, it can leave behind white urea-derived crystal deposits. Those deposits can interfere with DEF delivery, restrict flow, affect injector spray pattern, trigger fault codes, reduce efficiency, and lead to downtime or expensive service.

Regular DEF meets the requirement. Ultra Premium DEF™ raises the bar.
