Black Diamond Outlaw 15W-40 is recommended for heavy-duty trucks, agriculture, construction and industrial equipment, drilling rigs, stationary engines, turbo charged and racing engines where increased protection and TBN are preferred.

Black Diamond Outlaw 15W-40 is not intended for vehicles with DPF, catalytic converters, EGR or other emission equipment as damage to these systems could occur.

Black Diamond Outlaw 15W-40 can be ran up to 3 times longer than the manufacturer’s recommended specifications. With the combined use of a Frantz Bypass Oil Filter, scheduled oil analysis program, and Hot Shot’s Secret TBN booster your oil can last up to 100,000 miles. Your oil filter should be changed at the manufacturer’s recommended interval even if your oil is in spec.

Today’s CJ-4 and CK-4 diesel oils are limited due to government mandated specifications. Certain additives that helped in making diesel oil so robust are now gone.

Hot Shot’s Secret Black Diamond Outlaw fixes these issues by including more zinc, adding more detergents and dispersants to the oil and blending it with our patented FR3 Nano Technology. This allows for extreme wear protection, increased horsepower and fuel economy and less sludge formation. With a higher level of zinc, Black Diamond Outlaw provides 3x the amount of wear protection when compared to traditional CK-4 oils.

The government mandated specifications for CJ-4 and CK-4 diesel oil removed a lot of the additives that made diesel oils so robust. Hot Shot’s Secret Black Diamond Outlaw returns these lost properties and is the most complete diesel oil available. It has the highest Total Base Number (TBN) rating and the highest extreme-pressure additive package, which includes zinc, of all our oils.

We chose our PAO Adrenaline Racing Oil as the starting point for Black Diamond Outlaw and blended in additional CK-4 additive, extreme-pressure additives and TBN Booster. At nearly a 15 TBN rating, Black Diamond Outlaw exceeds the CK-4 specification by 150% with nearly 3 times the amount of zinc mandated by API for the CK-4 specification.

The increased TBN provides you with unmatched protection against the acidic conditions occurring naturally in diesel combustion engines. The harder you run your diesel, the more protection you’re going to need. Black Diamond Outlaw gives you all the benefits of the latest lubrication technologies of a PAO oil, including molecular, oxidative, thermal and additive package stability, but now with extra protection that we haven’t seen in years.

Being 100% PAO synthetic, Hot Shot’s Secret Black Diamond Outlaw provides many more benefits than other synthetic or conventional oils. The high viscosity index of PAO’s requires fewer viscosity improvers to meet the weight specifications. The shearing of viscosity improvers will thin your oil by mechanical means while being pressed through main and rod bearings, camshaft bearings, lifters, and between valve stems and rocker tips. Reducing the amount of viscosity improvers needed in your oil reduces the amount of mechanical shearing that takes place. This keeps your oil from losing viscosity and keeping it in specification and providing you with a more consistent oil and engine performance.

The true synthetic nature of PAO’s keeps oxidation from occurring at high temperatures due to their chemical structure. PAO’s have a fully saturated linear arrangement that have alkyl functional groups attached which gives it unique oxidation resistance and cold flow properties. Your engine will be fully protected from wear on cold starts and during operation.

PAO’s are inherently cleaner oils as well, with less impurities from the start. This means your oil will start cleaner and remain cleaner throughout its life cycle. Our incredibly high zinc and antimony extreme-pressure additive package protects you from the worst possible scenarios when you need boundary lubrication. The synergy between zinc and antimony and their reactions with phosphorus and sulfur provide a stronger multi-layer of tribofilm at the surface than either component on their own, which adds even more anti-wear and extreme pressure properties.

    99 7.3- You know that sludgy glob of metal that’s always on the drain plug magnet? After my first oil change with using the black diamond I didn’t have any sludge or metal sticking to the magnet. This was after 4000 miles and 6 truck pull events.

      After doing research and cost consideration, we decided against formulating a lighter weight Black Diamond oil, our current 15w-40 Black Diamond is at the lower end of the 15 weight threshold when cold as it is. Typically, diesel vehicles that do not have or are exempt from emission controls are older than 1996, and typically require a 15w-40 weight oil. While it its true that using a lighter oil in colder temperatures will show some benefit, due to our Black Diamond being formulated using PAO’s, it behaves slightly lighter at lower temperatures due to PAO’s simulating Viscosity Modifiers. That being said, you typically shouldn’t notice any differences between our oil and a lighter oil, like a 5w-40 at colder temperatures.

      The NOACK Volatility for Black Diamond 15W-40 has not been determined. However, the components used, and their NOACK volatilities combined, yield less than 6% maximum and likely close to the 5% mark. Hope that helps!
