Hi Tom, about 4.5 quarts would be perfect in a 60 series Detroit with a 9 gallon capacity; replacing an equal amount of oil.

I still have 4 half gallons of Stiction Remover with what “appears” to be – “older” (re:different)labels and Do NOT mention for use in gasoline engines (re:my wife’s 2002 Buick LeSabre-3.8V6)of any displacement, is this Still the same formulation(new label)was around 5 or 6 years ago?…. or has it been “watered down” to be compatible with seals, bearing material, etc in gas engines, as recommended now?

What is the “shelf life” of both the Diesel Extreme and the Stiction Remover??…. I ask, because I also have 12 quarts (out of 26) of the D-E that I initially bought nearly 3 yrs ago (2018)…along with a total of 4 gallons of the Stiction remover at the same time. I put in 1 quart of the S-R with every oil change and I only use Baldwin filters Exclusively for the oil and both Baldwin and (when I can get them)Luberfiner for my fuel filters. I change the oil filter at about the 3500mi point, midway between oil changes… the internals of my 311,000+mile Duramax are brand new – Clean.

Is the Stiction Remover compatible with a Low Ash 40wgt for the (older) 2 cycle Detroit Diesels? If so, I would think that it would be a tremendous help in eliminating “coking” at the air intake ports in the cylinder liners… Especially if there is any oil present in the air-box resulting from oil mist possibly being introduced into the airflow from the roots blower due to aging drive-end seals in the blower.

I’ve been using your Diesel Extreme and Stiction remover in my 2002 GMC 2500HD Duramax and other small 4 cycle Diesels since my 02 was new,and which now has over 311,000 miles on it and “purrs like a kitten”..it is as clean underneath as it is topside, and not a hint of a weep or leak from the radiator to the rear-end.

Also… what lubricant do you have or recommend for the ZF 6spd manual trans.(ZF S6-650)?? Is the “recommended” Delco #12378515(No Name “Mystery”)in reality, The SAME Specs as the GM Dexron3/6?? I’ve been wondering about the ALLISON M1000 trans option for this truck, which according to GM, carries an industry spec of TES-295 code for the trans.fluid…is this close to the Dexron3/4&6 specs, if not the same? I have heard of guys using Synthetic 75/90 gear oil (somewhat akin to 50wgt oil in viscosity) with success, but I’m not sure that I “buy” that, as it would seem to create increased pressure on the syncro’s resulting in slower engagement times…yes? No? C)None of the above? 🙂

Thank you Very Much for taking the time to read my questions, and answering in any way you can… it will all be well received and of great help to me in choosing more lubricant supplies from HotShot’s Secret in the near future.

PS:I was not aware until being on your site tonight, that you have a discount available for military (and Veterans, like myself – Vietnam,1968,69&70), and others as well…. I think that is Great!! Thank you HHS for doing that!

PPS: Is Mark ?? still there at HHS?….sorry, but I’ve forgotten his last name at the moment, I haven’t spoken with him since 2015(?)… and we talked for nearly Two (2) hours about engines, lubricants, etc. I formally studied Diesel Engine Design & Theory in both 4 & 2 cycle(specialized in the Clark Cycle -aka- 2 cycle), as a prelude to R&D work, and was chosen to attend Power Systems Training “Summer Schools” at both Detroit Diesel and Caterpillar during the summer months of 1965 and 1966… a teenagers “dream” for me, back then.

      R&D

1.) Stiction Remover/ Stiction Eliminator may have changed formula since the time of purchase and an easy way to tell is if it smells like butanol, our old formula contained butanol and if it is the old formula is no longer useable due to being past the expiration date of 5 years.

2.) All of our products have an expiration date of 5 years.

3.) Stiction Eliminator is compatible with all diesel and gasoline engines, however we recommend you do not use your stiction remover due to the expiration date if it smells like butanol.

4.) We recommend a fluid complying with the Mercon V specification.

5.) The Delco #12378515 is more comparable to Mercon V rather than Dex3/6, we currently do not offer a Mercon V spec fluid.

5.) The TES 295 spec is comparable to Dex 3 and Dex 6 applications, but only for GM vehicles requiring Dex 3/6, Dex 6 is slightly thinner than TES 295 and DEX 3 fluids, a detail that will not cause harm to GM model vehicles but can damage Ford models requiring Dex 3/TES 295. It’s also worth noting that TES 295 is a newer spec than Dex 3 and Dex 6.

Hope that helps and feel free to call anytime!

Best Product I have ever used.

Was having issues with my Isuzu NPR Diesel running rough. Tried this Duo combo and it cleared the problem after the 2nd tank of fuel ran through the system. Money saving fix which the dealer for repairs never charges me less then $400.00 every time I take my truck in for any repair.

The Stiction Eliminator oil additive is just as effective in diesel AND gasoline. However, the Diesel Extreme in this bundle is for diesel ONLY. Hope that helps!
