PROTECTS AGAINST WEAR

BLUE DIAMOND SEVERE DUTY TRANSMISSION FLUID was formulated for severe-duty applications. The formulas are based on 100% poly-alpha-olefin (PAO) Group IV and high-quality Group V synthetic oils, infused with our FR3 Nano Technology, that protects against the major causes of transmission breakdown and helps extend transmission life. Hot Shot’s heavy duty gear oil also provides increased oxidation resistance, thermal stability, deposit and sludge prevention, reduced breakdown, longer drain intervals and higher wear resistance than competitors. BLUE DIAMOND SEVERE DUTY TRANSMISSION FLUID is for use in automatic transmissions where heavy loads and challenging terrain place a high demand on transmissions.

At Hot Shot’s Secret®, we infuse our oils with FR3 Friction Reducer® due to its exceptional performance-enhancing properties. FR3 Friction Reducer® is specifically designed to reduce friction and minimize wear within an engine’s moving parts. Oils with this advanced friction-reducing technology provide superior lubrication, creating a protective barrier between metal surfaces and reducing metal-to-metal contact. This results in reduced friction, lower operating temperatures, and improved fuel efficiency. The infusion of FR3® also helps prevent premature engine failure by minimizing wear and tear on vital components, such as pistons, bearings, and camshafts.

By incorporating FR3® into our oils, we offer a superior product that extends the lifespan of engines and other oil-lubricated components, minimizes maintenance requirements and ensures peak performance and reliability. Hot Shot’s Secret® oils maintain their performance for longer periods, extending oil change intervals and reducing overall maintenance costs.

Allison has come out with a new fluid for their transmissions (in my case I’m looking at an Allison 1000 for my 2019 GMC 2500HD). According to Allison, “TES 668 builds on the proven 20 year record of TES 295® fluids by delivering the same great performance with a modern additive package.” Does this fluid meet and/or exceed Allison’s new TES-668 fluid and been certified by Allison because apparently they are pretty strict on who has this designation?

Unfortunately, at this time we do not have a fluid that is TES-668 spec.

The GM 6-speed transmissions specify the use of Dexron VI and per GM “GM auto transmission where a DEXRON VI, earlier-generation DEXRON or AW-1 fluid is specified.” I have not seen where this Blue Diamond is licensed by GM for use in Dexron VI applications; personally, I look for fully synthetic GM licensed (approved) transmission fluids. GM 10-speed transmissions specify the use of Dexron ULV and per GM “Fully synthetic ultra-low viscosity for use in 10-speed transmissions. Not a suitable replacement for DEXRON III or DEXRON VI.” I don’t know if the TES 668 can be used in an application that specifies the use of TES 295. There are new fluids than can NOT be used in previous applications.

In addition to what I stated above, I found this: “Gears Magazine – An Introduction to the 2020 10-Speed Allison
      https://gearsmagazine.com/magazine/an-introduction-to-the-2020-10-speed-allison/

The fluid used in Allison 10-speed transmission is Dexron ULV. Failure to use ULV fluid may cause shift concerns and possible clutch failure, so it is wise to use the fluid the unit was designed to utilize1. Allison Transmission recommends that customers use an Allison approved TES 295 automatic transmission fluid to extend drain intervals and to enhance transmission performance and durability in all operating environments.” I also found this from theis information regarding the Allison 10-speed in GM trucks, “The fluid used in this application is Dexron ULV. Failure to use ULV fluid may cause shift concerns and possible clutch failure, so it is wise to use the fluid the unit was designed to utilize. In addition, the additive package can settle out of the ULV fluid when it is left on the shelf for long periods of time, so the bottle should be shaken before it is installed into the transmission. These units do not have a dipstick, so the temperature must be between 167°F–176°F (75°C-85°C) before removing the fluid level site plug to check the level.”

Is this still the best fluid for the Allison 1000 transmission?Or do the new ones provide even better protection? I was blown away when I changed the fluid to this: Lower temps, smoother, better torque converter lockup. All around an amazing fluid.

  4. Question

    Keith W

Will this be ok to use in my 2008 Duramax with the Allison 1000 6 speed? The transmission was just rebuilt to handle 700HP. I do a lot of towing and a fair amount drag racing at diesel truck events

Absolutely. The Blue Diamond full-PAO fluid will lower transmission temperatures, and protect it for many miles.
